Project Accommodation Near Data Center Construction Sites

Finland has emerged as one of Europe’s most attractive locations for data center investments. Dozens of projects are underway or in development across the country, from Pori and Vaasa to Forssa and Rovaniemi, with many investments reaching hundreds of millions or even billions of euros.

Behind every major construction site, however, there is the same practical question: where will the hundreds of construction workers, installers and specialists stay during the project?

Kotimaailma meets this need with fully furnished project accommodation, available or arranged quickly in close proximity to the construction site.

Why Data Center Projects Need Dedicated Project Accommodation

Data center construction projects differ from conventional construction sites in both scale and timeline. Large numbers of electrical, HVAC, automation and construction professionals arrive at different stages of the project, often from different parts of Finland or from abroad. Workforce requirements can also change rapidly as the project progresses.

Hotel accommodation can quickly become both expensive and impractical. Hotel rooms offer limited space and privacy, there is no private kitchen for preparing meals, and hotels may not have sufficient capacity to accommodate large project teams in the same location.

A fully furnished project apartment provides a practical alternative. Employees have their own space, a private kitchen and a comfortable, home-like environment where they can relax and recover after a demanding workday.

For long-term projects that may last months or even several years, comfortable accommodation can contribute directly to employee wellbeing, productivity and the overall quality of work.

Data Center Projects in Finland – Where Is Accommodation Needed?

Finland currently has dozens of data center projects at various stages of development, with a strong pipeline of new investments. Examples of ongoing and planned projects include:

  • Pori – Norwegian ASP DC is developing a 37-hectare data center site, with the first phase expected to become operational in early 2027.
  • Järvenpää – A major data center investment planned by property developer Prime.
  • Forssa – QTS has acquired approximately 100 hectares of land for a potential large-scale data center development.
  • Vaasa – FCDC Corp is developing a large data center campus, with completion expected in 2028–2029.
  • Rovaniemi region – A large-scale data center facility is in development, with operations planned for 2029.
  • Kitee – An AI-ready data center project, with construction having started in 2026.
  • Espoo and the Helsinki metropolitan area – Several projects are underway or planned, including investments by international cloud service providers.
  • Hamina – Google has significantly expanded its data center operations, most recently with a €1 billion AI-focused expansion.
  • Lohja – A combined hotel, solar power and data center development is being planned.
